STEP 1: Begin by painting the dog an overall base coat. Choose the lightest color that you see in your dog. (For example, for the above black dog to the left, I painted the entire dog white, and then painted the black around the white.) This is because generally your darker colors coat better than your lighter colors. STEP 2: Draw the extra features of the dog.
Paint them in using a small brush and acrylic paints. For small details such as eyes and the mouth, sometimes I like to use Micron pens, as they generally do not smear when drawn over a painted surface. As a tip, it is better not to over-work the details, because it can get messy very quickly! Keep it simple and crisp. Best of luck!
